Book Buddies

The Book Buddies Literacy Program is designed to foster a love of reading among young children through a structured, engaging, and supportive read-aloud experience. The program pairs children in grades 1 through 4 with high school student mentors, known as “Big Buddies”.  Little Buddies have the opportunity to read books of their choice, or be read to, during a 30 minute time block. This program runs from October to May.  Please register for this program.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) is an early literacy initiative that encourages families to read to their young children.

How can you break it down?

  • 1 book a day for 3 years = 1000
  • 3 books a day for one year = 1000
  • 10 books a week for two years = 1000

You can repeat books as many times as you'd like, and storytime books count too!

After registering below, visit the Children's Room to get your coloring log sheets to track books read. When you complete 500 books, come into the Children's room for a prize and the next coloring sheet log.
